8:15 - 18:00 Site Visit, German Army Combat Training Centre (GATC) Letzlingen

Kick start Ground Combat Vehicles 2008 with our first ever live site visit to the German Army Combat Training Centre in Letzlingen.

The newly established centre is where operational training of combat troops under realistic conditions for combined arms combat takes place – with the original weapon systems (with laser duel simulators, no live-firing) and involving all the supporting elements of other branches. Furthermore, the combat training centre is the place where mission-oriented supplementary training of the operational contingents and NRF training rotations take place. During the transformation process of the Bundeswehr the combat training centre is used as a test environment for network-enabled operations.

The day offers an excellent opportunity to see current operational vehicles for the Bundeswehr in action on the centre’s own tracks. We will include presentations on the role of the centre and feedback for the capabilities of the combat vehicles on display. Colonel Gerd Kropf, Commanding Officer, GATC, will welcome all delegates and we will hear from him during the day.

The day will be the perfect introduction to the conference, with the expertise of the host nation’s armed forces combined with interesting activities which will offer all delegates an excellent chance to network and gain valuable insights into German Combat Vehicles capabilities.
